Randy, born in Fort Worth, Texas, started throwing pots in 1973, while working in his family’s business. He started developing his own glazes while obtaining his BA degree at Midwestern State University studying under Larry Davis. After several years of flying B-52s in the U.S. Air Force, the ‘Unknown Craftsman’ established his own production pottery business in North Texas, served several Southwestern States and developed his own porcelain clay while firing high temperature glazes.
Randy, now residing in Washington, and currently teaching his wife, Brenda to throw pots, believes that pottery enriches everyday life with it’s natural beauty that gives the owner a connection with the basic elements of earth, water, fire & air; but more importantly it connects him even more spiritually with the scriptures of the Holy Bible, Isaiah 64:8, “We are the clay, You are the Potter; we are all the work of Your Hand.” and Romans 9:21, “Does not the potter have the right to make out of the same lump of clay some pottery for noble purposes and some for common use?”
